Your Kid’s Camping Checklist

Camping definitely tops your kid’s list of favorite things to do. Why wouldn’t it? Camping whether it’s a summer camp, family camping or backyard camping with friends is a great outdoor experience where he is able to get in touch with nature, feel the rush of engaging in camping activities and have an ultimate fun with family and friends.

One of the most important things you should keep in mind when planning a camping trip are the things you need to bring for the trip which include his kids camping gear, personal items and first aid kit.

And because there are just so many kids camping gear to bring that it’s hard to memorize each of them, it’s only practical that you create a checklist to help you and your kid with the packing.

To give you an idea of what to put in your kid’s camping checklist, here are some of the essential kid’s camping gear and other personal items you need to include:

Kids camping gear:

  • Tents and sleeping bags. These are important to ensure that your kid will be able to get a good and comfortable night’s sleep. Opt for tents that are easy to pitch so that your kid can do it on his own or with just minimal supervision. Coleman’s MilkyWay Kids Tent for example is a kid friendly tent that your kid will enjoy setting up. It’s also ideal to purchase kid’s sleeping bags from Coleman because their sleeping bags have insulation that will provide comfortable warmth for your little one.
  • Lights. You have to equip your kid with sufficient light gadgets such as lanterns and flashlights so that he won’t have to fumble for his things in the dark or have a hard time in the trail. The Coleman for Kids Illumistick are great lights that your kid can also play with.
  • Backpack and bags. It’s important that you should choose a backpack that has enough space for your kid’s things. It’s also advisable to choose a backpack that has many pockets so that it won’t be hard for your kid to look for his necessities.
  • Camping accessories like binoculars and camera. Binoculars will enable your kid to enjoy the scenic view and with his camera he can take pictures as mementos for the great camping trip.

Personal items

  • Clothing. Pack sufficient and proper clothing for your little one. Have shirts and pants that are enough for the duration of the trip and if it’s summer pack his hat and sunglasses, if the season is rainy don’t forget his raincoat and boots.
  • Toiletries like toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo and other things that are essential for good grooming and personal hygiene.
  • Sunscreen. Stinging sunburn can easily turn an enjoyable trip into a horrible one. Avoid this by giving your kid a sunscreen with SPF 15 and protection against UV rays.
  • Insect repellent spray. Insects and mosquitoes are prevalent in campsites. Protect your kid from insect bites by including an insect repellent spray in his pack.
  • First Aid kit. Be sure to pack in your kid’s first aid kit bandages, antiseptic wipes, and medications for fever, pain, and stomach ache. But of course it’s not enough that your kid’s first aid kit is complete, it’s also very important that you teach him about what each of the things in the kit is for. Be sure to label the medicines and tell him not to take any without adult supervision.

The ultimate camping fun for your kid does not come easily. In fact it entails a lot of efforts such as careful planning and preparation to make sure that it’s an enjoyable trip that he won’t forget.
